Do I need a visa to study English at Anglotec?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your nationality and course length. Citizens of EU/EEA countries, the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan, and many other countries can study for up to 6 months without a visa. For courses longer than 6 months, or if you're from a visa-required country, you'll need to apply for the appropriate visa before travelling.

What is a CAS and do I need one?

A CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) is an electronic document issued by a UK institution licensed to sponsor students. You only need a CAS if you're applying for a Student visa (for courses longer than 11 months). For short-term study, Anglotec's acceptance letter is sufficient.

How much money do I need to show for my visa application?

Accepted Answer

For a Short-term Study visa, you need to show enough funds to cover your course fees and living costs for the duration of your stay. For a Student visa, you need to show at least £1,334 per month (for up to 9 months) for living costs outside London, plus your full course fees. Bank statements from the last 6 months are typically required.

Can I work while studying at Anglotec?

If you're on a Short-term Study visa (either type), you cannot work in the UK. If you're on a Student visa, you may be permitted to work limited hours during term time, depending on the conditions of your visa.

How long before my course should I apply for my visa?

Accepted Answer

We recommend applying at least 3–4 weeks before your planned travel date. For Short-term Study visas, you can apply up to 3 months before travel. For Student visas, you can apply up to 6 months before your course starts. Processing times vary by country.

What happens if my visa is refused?

If your visa application is refused, please contact us immediately. We can help you understand the reasons for refusal and advise on reapplication. If you've paid course fees, we offer a refund (minus administration fee) upon presentation of the official refusal letter.

Does Anglotec provide visa support letters?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Once you've enrolled and paid your fees, we provide all the documentation you need for your visa application, including an official acceptance letter, course confirmation, accommodation details, and a covering letter if needed.

Question 8

Do I need a TB test?

Accepted Answer

If you're applying for a visa to stay in the UK for more than 6 months and you're from a country where TB testing is required, you'll need a TB test certificate from an approved clinic. Check the UK government website for the list of countries.

Can I extend my course while in the UK?

Accepted Answer

If you're on a Short-term Study visa, you cannot extend your stay. You must leave the UK when your visa expires. If you're on a Student visa, you may be able to extend by applying before your current visa expires.

What is the Immigration Health Surcharge?

The Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) is a fee paid by visa applicants that gives you access to the UK's National Health Service (NHS). The current rate is £776 per year for students. It's only required for Student visa applicants, not Short-term Study visa holders.
